The Challenge: Delivering Rich Historical Narratives for Antique Raceboats Without On-Site Guides
The Canadian RaceBoat Hall of Fame wanted to enrich its antique raceboat collection by sharing the captivating stories and oral histories behind each boat. The client needed a self-guided, reliable audio solution that would allow visitors to explore historical accounts at their own pace without requiring a tour guide. The kiosks had to seamlessly blend into the gallery space while withstanding continuous daily museum use.
The Simbioz Solution: Autonomous Multichannel Audio Stations with Simultaneous Dual-User Access
Simbioz engineered, produced, and deployed custom autonomous audio kiosks designed to integrate clean-cut functionality into the exhibition layout. Each station features a flush-mounted touchscreen interface where visitors can easily select and listen to various historical audio clips. Simbioz managed the complete content pipeline—from translating the original scripts to producing high-quality professional voiceover recordings.
Key Feature: Each kiosk is equipped with a small built-in touchscreen for track selection, two individual heavy-duty handsets, and a multichannel audio engine. This enables two visitors to use the same station simultaneously, selecting and listening to entirely different audio tracks at the same time without interference.
The Results: An Engaging, Scalable Self-Guided Audio Experience
The autonomous audio stations provide an immersive oral history layer that complements the visual impact of the vintage raceboats. By empowering visitors to choose and listen to stories independently, the audio stations increase engagement and extend dwell time across the exhibit. The heavy-duty design ensures long-term operational reliability in a high-traffic museum environment.
