We developed a playful historical tour of the Fortifications of Québec for children and families. Equipped with a tablet, a sword or bracelet, families roam the Fortifications of Quebec, meeting historical characters who present children with many challenges. These meetings allow families to learn more about this historic site and the different fictional characters of local historical lore.
Historical characters appear on the tablet at very specific locations along the route. When the family is close enough to the meeting place, the tablet detects the GPS position of the family and reveals a character on the screen. Then the character speaks directly to the children and invites them to undertake a challenge.
